First established in 2011, Ithenia is a realistic equine roleplay with a few twists. Think Game of Thrones meets wild horses :) There are the noble families of the North, ruled over by the King and his Lords. With heritage and prestige dominating these lands, blood is thicker than water. But the wild Southerners do not believe in such things and instead live as they please. Viewed as barbarians by the civilized North, these horses have no ties and no honor. Tensions run high between the two countries, and it is only a matter of time before they boil over.
This is a complete list of established bloodlines on Ithenia. In order to get your horse's name here, you will have to request it be added by replying to this thread with the following:

ADVORSOR • "to resist" The lineage of Advorsor has been around for distant generations and one will mostly find Thoroughbreds with occasional crossings. Generally, a variety of solids are the most common color among members and any breakage is extremely rare, though not entirely unheard of. Members of this lineage are well known for their backgrounds and commitment to the guard, defending the Northern king and citizens. Swift of foot, they have acute talents as Outriders and though not always known to partake on the frontlines of battle, have a rather legendary reputation for survival and resistances that can be accredited to their strength of mind and will. Their loyalty and reliability are known well, as is their often brutal honesty. Indeed, Advorsors don't beat around the bush, and despite their lighter of frame they certainly don't fall easy.
AETHERIUS • "ethereal, celestial" The ancient royal family of Ithenia, kings and queens of the North. They are flashy horses, with the dominant silver gene (ZZ) and splash gene. While the splash gene does appear more prominently in certain family members, it is most often minimally expressed, resulting in "solid" horses with striking blue eyes (the most common Aetherius aesthetic.) Morgan and Friesian blood is most prevalent in this line - color from the Morgan and build from the Friesian. These horses are born leaders, often vain, with personalities ranging from prim and proper to high and mighty.
AMANTIUS • "loving" The Amantius family has been in Ithenia from the start, trough the peacetimes and the uprisings. Their name is no stranger the the service and offices of the king. One Amantius was even the former queen for a time before she fell ill and passed. Members of this household are characterized by the occurrence of ice blue eyes and lighter colors such as gray, buckskin, dun and cremello but have also appeared in other colors. They are respected both in the North and in the South where in peace times heralds were sent to retain peace between the territories. They are characterized by honesty, mercy, compassion, honor, and loyalty.
ARDENTE • "ardent, passionate, burning" The Ardente lineage is made up primarily of Warlander and Arabians. Their colors range widely, so they base most of their characteristics on physical attributes. They will generally inherit the baroque frame of the Warlander, and the slender neck and head of the Arabian. Those attributes are highly sought after within the hierarchy of the family, but may vary slightly in some of the separate branches. They tend to have fiery, quick witted personalities. They are not pacifists in the least and if something upsets them they may well act without thinking. They are loyal to a fault, sometimes siding with someone they have known and trusted for a long time over someone they know to be right.
BELLATOR • "warrior, mercenary" This bloodline is generally a mixture of Spanish breeds, ranging from the Andalusian, to the Portugese Lusitano and the Hispano-Breton. They are know for their thick necks, long legs and sturdy, thick frames. The body-type is most important in this bloodline, whereas the colors range is probably the widest range you will see in Ithenia. They are warriors and mercenaries, generally offering no loyalty without receiving something in return. Born and bred to fight, they generally fill some of the higher ranks of the Kings Army and some have been known to branch into the South when offered something exceptional by the Southern usurpers. Those who define themselves as warriors are more likely to swear fealty to who they truly believe the rightful King is. Those dubbing themselves as mercenaries will only fight for the King who offers them the greatest reward (i.e. land and title, or perhaps a high bred mare as their mate.)
BRONZÉ • "sunbathed" Of desert lineage, pale horses make up this lineage. The most prominent breeds that build up this line are Akhal-Teke, Marwari and Arabians. Those with evident Akhal Teke characteristics are held as the most pure of the lineage, and often have the highest ranks within the family. They are hotblooded, desert born and bred horses. As long as they maintain a pale and fit appearance, the lineage of one with the surname Bronzé will most often not be questioned. This allowed for the cream gene, Palominos, Buckskins, Pale Duns and grays. All must be Hotblooded, for a Bronzé must be capable of surviving the challenging life of the desert. The Bronzé family is mostly known as Border Lords. They guard the most southern of the Northern lands, safe guarding the rest of the North from ill-wishing Southerners. A Bronzé is both a peacemaker and a warrior. If they cannot make a satisfying arrangement without violence, they will not hesitate to exact justice in service of their King or their herd.
CHRONICLE • "a factual written account of important or historical events" Chronicles are famous for their fiery personalities, budding rudeness and greedy natures. All family members are ruthless killers, hungry for power and lust after anything luxurious, and it is because of that that they are well known throughout the land. The bloodline is a mix of both Frisians and Paint horses, though there are more of the Paints than their working Frisians.
DE CASIENTO • derived from Spanish word asiento and Latin word sedere which means "to sit." Commonly used to refer to a contract or agreement of mutual benefit, or granting permission. The De Casiento clan is traditionally associated with the values of perseverance and mercy. The clan itself is said to have crossed Boneland and the fatal stretch of rapids following their exile to the South, but they still have a strong tradition of desert wisdom, techniques and trades passed down through the years which have allowed them to survive through peace times and hardships. It is easy to peg a De Casiento as arrogant, snobby or conceded. But they are can be silver-tongued and direct. They carry themselves with an alluring aura, like something exotic out of an ancient story. They are as classy as they are charming and witty.
FERRO • "iron" The Ferro house is closely tied to the Bronzé family that rules the Boneland that borders the North Bank. As the name implies, this family spawns hardy and swift warriors, many of which have served on the front lines of the king's army. Ferros tend to be short-tempered, blunt, and are said to be prone to violence. They are fierce warriors, but not always the best of strategists. The ladies of this line are as rugged as the males with the intuition of a woman and the mouth of a soldier, the mares of the Ferro house tend to be the more tactical ones. Ferros come in most any shade of Arabian mingled with the signature hues of the Akhal Teke line, though it is rare it is said to be a good omen when a foal of this line is born pure black.
GRIMM • "The Fierce One" Mainly consist of light draft to heavy draft, whether it is pure of blood or a mixture. Colors range from dark hues to lighter hues and abnormalities in colors are a usual occurrence in the Grimm bloodline. The Grimm name is known for their darker nature. They are true survivalist and born into battle. Well trained in both mind and body, yet some tend to be darker than others. The bloodline is sometimes feared by those who have felt the wraith or come across these creatures. They indeed favor bloodshed, war, lust, and living another day. These beings do not fear death but they certainly will not go down without a fight. Beware they can become your more trusted friend or your worst nightmare.
LAZARO • "God is my help" The Lazaros are a small line and not much is known about them. Those worthy of mention have held various offices in the history of Ithenia. But they have been said to be of fine stock, desert born children with the mystery and wisdom that comes to those born and raised in the desolate wasteland. They tend to be born of darker colors from their Spanish-Arabian lines, but have also appeared in the desert camouflage of dunskin, champagne, cremello, or the metallic signatures of the Akhal-Teke stem. Lazaros have a quality of being fearless and boast the skills of perseverance, navigation and cunning. So while they are few in number, their accomplishments throughout each generation in the name of the Northern crown have been many.
MAEROR • "grief" The Maerors are known, but not talked about a whole lot, due to the overall nature of the family. They are a small family, that generally keeps to themselves, because no one will be associated with them. The Maerors are a flashy coated family, usually Sabino, Leopard, or Rabicano in coloring. They are very quiet, and usually very emotional.
PINGERE • "paint" House Pingere are known for being black & white paints. They think of themselves as being very attractive. All members of House Pingere must have the traditional black & white markings with blue eyes or they may be deemed illegitimate for the family name.
SOLOUS • "Independent - we were born alone and we will die alone." The solous line is one that has many impurities. With no records and memory to note when it began or the journey it has travelled. Many of their descendants suffer from severe memory loss and chronic delusions. Mental instability is often found in these lines alongside the tell tale grey pelt beginning weeks after birth. They often grow to be very tall and broad especially the mares. They are independent and deceitful by nature.
VALERIO • "to be strong; courage" Of Freisian and Andalusian heritage; this small bloodline was first brought to Ithenia by a soldier turned mercenary known as Spaniard. He was a characterized by his bravery, his judgement and even his leadership among the small band he commanded. He was also characterized by his left eyes which was blue in contrast to his right eye which was a warm hazel. This trait has sometimes been known to appear in the bloodline. They come in all solid colors of Andalusian lines, but are commonly gray, black, white, bay and black. The Valerios are attributed with high regard for honor, loyalty, courage. While some of this line can be temperamental, most have exhibited qualities of being calm and wise, perceptive, kind and honest. They all seem to have a knack for saying what must be said, even when no one wants to hear the words.
VENATOR • "warrior" We are not born to this life, we are chosen. Picked, selected. We are trained and we fight. We will always get up, we will always rise. To not is to die. We are of this name for as long as we rise. We are one, we are few, we are many and we are united. From all walks of life we come together to fight for a single goal. Without question or hesitation, we are warriors.
